The KS Wine MapKansas has a deep history with wine making. In fact, without Kansas Vineyards, some of the most famous wines in Europe might not exist! During the mid 1800's, Phylloxera (a microscopic insect) migrated from the America to European vineyards as both continents exchanged vines for experimentation. Rootstock from native Midwestern grapes, including some from Kansas were used to graft with European grapes varieties, saving them due to American grapes' resistance to Phylloxera!
As winemaking has exploded in Kansas over the past decade, we thought it was time to put together the ultimate map of Kansas wineries. We want you to explore, taste, and share the finest wines the state has to offer! Check out the map.

Kansas Wine HistoryGrapes and wine in Kansas started before Kansas was admitted to the Union in 1861. There is no written record of the acres or gallons of wine produced at that time, but when the Kansas Board of Agriculture was established, their annual reports, beginning in 1877 included detailed data about acres planted in each county and total gallonage produced statewide.
